As I finally put my feet up in front of the fire after yet another hectic weekend I am starting to think about Christmas and need inspiration for present ideas.
The children are still relatively easy – they have a Santa list as long as their arm, many of which are pipe dreams but who knows a few may get realised. The mass of French relatives venturing over the Channel for ‘Noel’ will however need some serious thought – a wide range of ages and interests I want to shop locally and therefore visits to some Christmas fairs are on the cards. I started this week with the fabulous local Watlington Hospital Charitable Trust Christmas Fair and am planning to sneak a visit to Humble CountryCountry at Hampton Court Palace on Saturday 8th December for some serious shopping.
Why is it however that those closest to us always come last on the list? Yes, poor hubby rarely gets more than a passing thought although I am quite lucky as I know how much he yearns simple pleasures – a good bottle of wine, an intimate dinner or some kind of outdoor escapade. Really not too tricky and rather helpful that we have a fleet of GlamperRVs in our back yard to take out for an adventure!.
I have therefore just checked in with the grandparents that they can take on the school run for a few days in January whilst we pack up our crazy little cocker spaniel and plan a trip into the wilderness. Having sampled many fabulous trips over the last year I am quite torn on where to go – do we visit the foodie haven around Rutland Water which would certainly tick all the boxes or do we head to North Wales and conquer Snowdon Summit or perhaps the wide open beaches of Norfolk or Devon? We really are spoilt for choice in this stunning country and I don’t think we could give each other a better present than some quality time together.
