A Scandivanian GlamperRV Adventure
As the evenings draw in, it’s the perfect time to swap the dark skies for dreams of 2026 destinations! I really hope you enjoy our Scandinavian adventure. I’m already mapping out next year’s adventures, and I’d love to hear what’s on your radar. If you have even a glimmer of an idea for a GlamperRV trip, let me know—supporting you transcribe that inkling into a full-blown itinerary is what I enjoy most.
Inspiration is everywhere, and today I want to share the flavour of an epic journey taken by one of our regular customers—a route that covers the dramatic landscapes of Scandinavia.
While my husband is heading off on an off-road motorbike adventure through the Swedish forests up to Nordkapp, my dream is to follow him in a GlamperRV! Unfortunately timings don’t align next year however we’re looking at this as a future must-do trip, following in the footsteps of several of our adventurous customers who have already conquered this region on their own Scandinavian adventure.
Top Tip: The main luxury for a Scandinavian adventure is time to truly explore this stunning region. With no direct ferries from the UK to Norway you will need to factor in travel up through the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark.

Starting Smoothly: Netherlands & Germany
Enjoy a relaxed start to your travels with the overnight ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland. In my experience, this is the perfect way to ease into any big trip! If you travel in the spring, you can time your stop in the Netherlands to catch the spectacular tulip season—well worth a detour!
You’ll whizz through the Netherlands as your focus shifts to Germany and the city of Bremen. Here, you’ll find a great Stellplatz (similar to Aires in France) in the city centre. These designated overnight motorhome spots offer a fantastic, convenient base for city exploration.
The Fjord Gateway: Norway Unveiled
Break the journey to Denmark with a lovely stop by the lake in Flensburg before heading to the ferry port of Hirtshals. From here, you can ferry as far north as Bergen, but our inspiration trip heads straight for Stavanger.
Another overnight ferry crossing means you wake up, arriving into the port—the beginning of your Norwegian Fjord adventure!
There are many bucket list attractions and one must be the hike up to Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen). It’s a 4-hour, 8 km round trip rated moderate with steep, rocky sections. Plan this between May and October for the best experience.
Continue north on the iconic Highway 13, driving via Geirangerfjord up to Flåm. This leads to the world-famous Flåm Mountain Railway—supposedly the prettiest rail journey in the world! Flåm is a place to settle in: explore by foot, take in a fjord cruise, or simply enjoy the stunning wild-camping spots right next to the fjord for true escape.
From Flåm, your route offers a major turning point: do you press north towards Trondheim or head south to Oslo? Our adventurous customers opted south to Oslo, which they loved, before carrying on into Sweden towards Stockholm.
City Breaks & The Homeward Run
The Refresh Factor: For a long trip (4+ weeks), changing your environment is key! Our customers parked their GlamperRV securely in Stockholm and took a foot-passenger ferry over to Tallinn, Estonia, for a few days exploring on foot. A hotel stay offers a necessary refresh for the next leg.
Tallinn offers a brilliant contrast to orderly Scandinavia. You can easily hop over to Helsinki, Finland (often via a lively ferry!) before returning to Stockholm, a stunning arrival through the islands.
The route south takes in the university town of Jönköping and Malmö. Leaving a city has never been so appealing as the lure of crossing the spectacular Øresund Bridge connecting Sweden and Denmark as you depart Malmo!
The next City stop is Copenhagen, somewhere you can dedicate a few days; there’s so much to explore.
The Final Leg presents various options but our adventurers enjoyed stops in Hamburg, historic Ghent, and Ypres, before catching the Eurostar from Calais.
This 3,400-mile, 6-week adventure highlights just a flavour of the possibilities! Planning is everything for a smooth journey.
Your Essential Planning Blueprint: To help you start sketching your perfect journey, focus on these four core areas:
- What is your route? (Remember: travel is slower than in a car!)
- Where are you planning to stay? (Be flexible, but book ahead for weekends/holidays).
- What food will you pack? (Scandinavia is expensive; pre-planning meals is essential. For inspiration my friend Cathy created a campervan cookbook from their trip to the region – message me if you would like a copy).
- What are your absolute must-sees? (Nail down those bucket-list stops, even if the journey twists and turns).
I trust this itinerary will inspire many of you for your next GlamperRV adventure, filled with unforgettable moments and breathtaking vistas.
As ever, happy planning!
