GlamperRV Autumn Adventure

Well, summer is truly here! A sure sign when our GlamperRV fleet is safely tucked away at Glastonbury before heading off to Silverstone for next weekend’s British Grand Prix.  With all our GlamperRV out enjoying the season, my thoughts are already turning to autumn – a truly magical time for a GlamperRV autumn adventure. In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing some fantastic trip ideas with you, but let’s kick things off with one of my all-time favourite destinations: the South of France!

Why an Autumn adventure in Europe is Pure Bliss
Many of our customers love to explore Europe as the summer crowds thin out. You’ll still enjoy lovely temperatures in the mid-20s, the local communities are wonderfully welcoming, and the best part? Our GlamperRV hire prices drop to low season rates from mid-September!

Southern France: A Journey of Discovery
While there’s always a bit of driving involved when heading south, the journey itself is part of the charm. Embrace the wonderful French hospitality along the way, and you’ll find the miles melt away!

As you head down the Autoroute du Sud, you’ll witness the landscape transform. It’s always amazing how, once you pass Dijon, the mercury rises, and the scenery shifts, clearly signalling your arrival in the south.

For your quintessential “sur le pont” moment, a stop in Avignon is a must. When exploring cities in a GlamperRV, location is key. You’ll want to be within easy walking distance of the centre, so campsite expectations might need to be modest – though you might be pleasantly surprised! There are a couple of excellent options just a short stroll from Avignon’s heart, making them a superb base for exploring this beautiful city.

A short drive along the coast brings you to the Camargue region, a stunning and unique part of Southern France and Europe’s largest river delta. This vast area of salt marshes and wetlands is home to the famous pink flamingos and white horses. While there are campsites within the delta, many prefer to stay at the lovely L’Arlésienne campsite in Arles and venture into the delta for day trips.

Another hop takes you to Aix-en-Provence. Be sure to visit on a market day (currently Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings) – they are fabulous! Camping Chantecler, which has recently been renovated and is open all year, makes for a great base here.

If all these city visits leave you yearning for some pure relaxation, look no further than the Marina Resort in Port Grimaud. Book a large pitch, and you will enjoy a private bathroom, kitchen, and even an artificial grass garden area. This is a larger site, but its access to Sainte Maxime, Port Grimaud, and St Tropez is excellent, making it an ideal hub for exploring the region.

As you wind your way along the south coast of France, there are countless fabulous places to discover, all the way across to Ventimiglia in Italy (market day is a busy but rewarding Friday excursion). You’ll find an abundance of places to stay, and the entire south coast is well-served by an excellent train service and even Uber – a firm favourite when staying on a hill (walk down, Uber home!)

A Scenic Return Journey

For a truly stunning route back, consider heading via Courmayeur and the Aosta Valley, then through the Mont Blanc tunnel to Chamonix. A recent customer raved about Les Deux Glaciers, a few kilometers outside Chamonix, boasting incredible views of Mont Blanc (see photo above). It’s an excellent base for mountain biking or walking, and conveniently on a bus route into the town centre and a short walk to the gondola which takes you up to the Aiguille de Midi.

On your journey to and from the South of France, there are a vast array of excellent campsites. A couple of firm favourites with our loyal GlamperRV customers are Castel Camping Château de l’Epervière (between Macon and Beaune) and Camping au Bord de l’Aisne just outside Reims.

Availability for September is already quite limited, so if you’re considering an autumn adventure, please do get in touch!

As ever, happy planning!
