Site spotlight – Popham Airfield
Before I get into the detail of our site spotlight – Popham Airfield, I have to share with you one of the ‘worst’ part of my job. The sun is shining and I find myself tasked with taking our brand-new 2026 GlamperRV models out for their final shakedown.
There is nothing quite like a smooth cruise down the motorway followed by an off-grid overnight stay to ensure every luxury is functioning perfectly before our first guests arrive. My most recent “work trip” took me to a charming spot just a short stroll from Stratford-upon-Avon.
Walking along the river toward Shakespeare’s home brought back wonderful memories of my years working with the RSC’s main sponsor, Allied Domecq. It was a nostalgic reminder of why we do what we do—creating new memories in beautiful places.
Site Spotlight: Popham Airfield, Hampshire
This week, we’re featuring a “hidden gem” that offers a unique twist on the traditional campsite. Located just off the A303, Popham Airfield is the perfect stopover for those heading to or from the South West.
- The Setting: Five exclusive pitches backing onto woodland, surrounded by glorious Hampshire countryside teeming with rabbits, red kites, and muntjac.
- The Atmosphere: This is a live airfield, active 364 days a year. Expect to enjoy your morning coffee or a chilled sundowner while watching aircraft take to the skies.
- For the Adventurous: If you fancy seeing the world from a different perspective, there are two flying schools on-site offering trial flights. You could even have friends fly in to meet you!
- Dining: If you’d prefer to leave the cooking to someone else, the charming on-site café is an excellent spot for a relaxed meal.
Whether you are a plane-spotter or simply looking for a wide-open space to breathe, Popham offers a delightfully different pace of life.
