Site Spotlight – Watching the Gallops

Welcome to our new series of #sitespotlight.  Over the winter months my aim is to share with you some amazing places to overnight on your GlamperRV adventure.  Whilst many of these are small campsites, others are rather different locations – think vineyards, stately homes and farms.

I know many GlamperRV customers love the idea of staying off the beaten track so let’s go with our first #sitespotlight – Upper Herdswick Farm.

If you love race horses then you will definitely want to visit this site spotlight – watching the gallops.  Upper Herdswick Farm is a Wild with Consent pitch, home to a racehorse training stables, with gallops and schooling jumps close to the site so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to watch the racehorses.

It is set in the heart of the Marlborough downs and is a real hidden gem just 15 minutes from the M4. The farm is right beside Barbury Castle and has far reaching views to Marlborough, the Cotswolds and Liddington castle.

You will be parked in your very own field with no other campers or humans within sight or earshot. This is a peaceful haven where you can listen to the sounds of nature and the occasional thundering of horses hooves as they complete their morning exercise.

If you would like to know more about the farm or the racehorses, you can book a tour with Neil either to join the morning gallops routine for a Racehorse Owner Experience, or for an evening wildlife drive (prices from £20 per person, book direct with Neil and Clare). There is also a hideaway hut with central fire and BBQ which you can hire by arrangement if you’d like some more space in inclement weather.

If you like the idea of planning a trip encompassing more off the beaten track locations, please do get in touch.

Happy planning.
