GlamperRV 2018 Highlights

I hope you have all had a very Happy Christmas and as you prepare for New Year celebrations, sit back and let me inspire you for your 2019 GlamperRV adventure with some of my highlights from this year!

The year started with a series of GlamperRV alpine adventures – customers thrilled by the flexibility that hiring a luxury motorhome gave them as they travelled between resorts, met up with friends and tried out a range of overnighting locations.  If you think that a GlamperRV could work for you this winter (and yes, conditions are excellent with the snow falling in the Savoie as I write!) then take a read of my GlamperRV Ski Adventure blog to get some ideas.

The Easter break saw many families heading south in search of the sun as the ‘Beast from the East’ was set on keeping the near artic temperatures for the early April Easter weekend.  Some found my France Hot Spots blog a source of inspiration and many returned voting Annecy their favourite destination – plenty of places to park for the night, a town very accessible by cycle routes and a plethora of adrenalin filled entertainment.

How we welcomed the arrival of the sunshine for the early May bank holiday weekend and following a day of football tournaments we snuck our boys away for a short trip on the banks of the River Thames parking up at the Hurley Riverside Park where we relaxed in the sun whilst the boys found new friends and yes, played more football!  The sunshine would stay with us all summer and took an Australian couple touring Scotland in a GlamperRV by surprise as the temperature failed to dip below 25 degrees!  You may think they were totally spoilt however coming from the land of sunshine they were disappointed not to experience the infamous British rain!

The festival season may have started a little later given Glastonbury’s fallow year however our fleet were out in force at the large number of festivals and sporting events during July and August and how relieved those customers who had booked an electric hook up at Silverstone were to have our super cooling air conditioning – it was most definitely a scorcher!

Another destination that seemed popular this year was Yorkshire and with the UCI Road Cycling World Championships heading to the region in September 2019, there will be a great opportunity to follow the route and catch a glimpse of the global stars of road cycling.  Motorhome hire has always been a popular choice to follow cycling events and for some ideas refresh yourself with our blog on following the Tour de Yorkshire.  If after clocking up the miles on your bike you fancy a spot of Michelin dining then visit the Black Swan at Oldstead, a customer visited in the spring and came back raving!

As I reflect on 2018 and the incredible range of destinations visited by our ever growing fleet, I can’t quite believe it is only three years ago that I took the plunge, leaving the comfort of a secure, well-paid London job, with just one GlamperRV parked on our drive and a business plan in my head!  That is the great thing about this country, taking a business from concept to reality is relatively simple and whatever happens on 29th March I know this entrepreneurial spirit will remain very much part of our culture, becoming a crucial aspect to our future success.

We are already very booked up for July and August so if you are looking for a long trip and can be flexible with dates then the late April Easter break, May and September are definitely your best bet (hire prices are also lower!)

Wishing you all a very healthy, happy and prosperous 2019.
